  • Data should be ordered if there is no logical/natural order in the categories.
  • Gridlines should be removed (for most charts).
  • Axis text shouldn’t be rotated. Instead, it is better to swap the chart from vertical to horizontal.
  • Direct labels should be used.
  • Data-ink ratio should be minimized.
